The case studies presented throughout these reports represent more than individual clinical outcomes; they contribute to an expanding body of real-world evidence supporting the scientific evaluation of nutritional interventions for equine metabolic health. Each horse was evaluated independently by licensed veterinarians using standardized laboratory analyses performed by accredited diagnostic laboratories. The resulting bloodwork was subsequently reviewed and interpreted by research scientists with expertise in equine physiology, metabolism, and nutritional science to place the findings within the context of current scientific knowledge.
Unlike controlled clinical trials, case studies cannot establish direct cause-and-effect relationships. Individual horses differ in genetics, age, body condition, exercise, pasture access, management practices, and disease severity, all of which may influence metabolic responses. Nevertheless, carefully documented clinical cases remain an important component of evidence-based veterinary medicine. They provide valuable insight into how nutritional strategies perform under real-world conditions and frequently generate hypotheses that can later be investigated through larger, controlled research studies.
One of the greatest strengths of collecting serial blood samples is the ability to evaluate metabolic trends over time rather than relying on a single measurement. Resting insulin concentrations naturally fluctuate with season, diet, stress, and numerous physiological factors. Repeated measurements allow veterinarians and researchers to distinguish between isolated laboratory findings and meaningful changes in metabolic regulation. Across the cases presented in this report, reductions in resting insulin concentrations were observed while blood glucose concentrations remained within normal physiological limits. Although these observations should be interpreted cautiously, they provide encouraging evidence that continued scientific investigation of nutritional approaches to supporting insulin regulation is warranted.
These clinical observations are particularly valuable because they complement an extensive research program already conducted on the STRUCTURE supplement line. Controlled experimental studies performed at the University of Guelph have previously demonstrated that STRUCTURE formulations can influence biomarkers associated with inflammation, joint physiology, and inflammation-resolution pathways in horses. The addition of field-based metabolic case studies extends this research beyond

Importantly, these data also inform the continued development and refinement of future STRUCTURE products. Individual ingredient concentrations, nutrient ratios, and formulation strategies are continually evaluated as new scientific information becomes available. Observed trends in clinical bloodwork, combined with controlled laboratory investigations and published scientific literature, help identify opportunities to optimize ingredient inclusion rates and improve targeted nutritional support for specific physiological systems, including metabolic health, muscle function, gastrointestinal health, and joint function. Rather than relying solely on theoretical formulation, the STRUCTURE product line is continually refined using an iterative process that integrates veterinary observations, laboratory diagnostics, and scientific research.
As additional horses are monitored over time, this growing database of clinical observations will strengthen our understanding of metabolic responses to nutritional management and help identify which horses may benefit most from specific formulations. Future studies incorporating larger populations, standardized management protocols, and longer follow-up periods will further clarify these observations and provide increasingly robust evidence to guide both veterinarians and horse owners. The continued integration of veterinary clinical practice with scientific research represents one of the most effective approaches for advancing equine nutritional medicine. By combining objective laboratory testing, veterinary expertise, and ongoing research, the STRUCTURE supplement line is developed through a process of continuous scientific evaluation rather than anecdotal observation alone.
